Rebbetzen
Rebbetzen Chaiky was born in New York to the Grodzinski family, a rabbinical family who were Holocaust survivors. She met her husband in Israel where they married in 1965.
They have two children. Chani Schreibhand, a florist, lives in Prestwich and is married to Yitzchok, a well regarded scribe, and they are proud parents of a large family including a first great-granddaughter for the Rabbi and Rebbetzen.
Their son Moshe married Hadassah, daughter of Rabbi Berel Cohen, and they live in Glasgow where he serves as Rabbi of Giffnock, the largest Orthodox congregation in Scotland today. They also have a large thriving family.
The Rebbetzen has established a warm bond with her Bat Chayil girls which continues to their marriage, as she also counsels married couples. In fact, she serves as friend and mentor to all the young people who have been guided by her. She can frequently be seen helping women at prayer and many members know personally of her warmth at difficult times of illness or bereavement.
She teaches under the auspices of the ‘Rebbetzen’s Think Tank’, she serves as President of the Ladies Committee and is active with the Chevra Kadisha and with Reachout.
The Rebbetzen’s Friday night dinners are renowned for their style and ambience. In addition, she has built up a career as a personal fitness adviser, bringing to the Orthodox ladies of North Manchester a certain sense of pride in their physical abilities.
